My name is Jinsong Xia. "Jin" comes from my mother's last name, while "song" means pine tree in Chinese – a symbol of strength and resilience. My last name, "Xia," translates to summer in Chinese.
Upon completing my master's degree, I relocated from China to Canada to study for my PhD. During my three and half years in my PhD, I developed a stronger interest and passion in sustainability and energy. Therefore, after finishing my PhD, I moved to California, to pursue my passion in Science at Caltech.
Outside of academia and research, I have a wide range of interests. I love hiking, jogging, badminton, kayaking, and other outdoor activities in nature. Reading is another essential aspect of my life, I enjoy reading literature and thinking about topics including psychology, philosophy, and science. my favorite authors include Marcel Proust and Hermann Hesse.
